Jesus Catch Me

Jesus Catch Me

Jesus catch me I can't stand
I am drifting from Your hand.
Reach and lift me and dry my tears
Then safe-keep me through the years.

I set off on my own,
I thought that I was strong
I made this world my home
I heard the tempter's song

Chorus
Jesus catch me I can't stand
I am drifting from Your hand.
Reach and lift me and dry my tears
Then safe-keep me through the years.

I found myself alone
My new friends proved untrue
You saw me from Your throne
This one whose life was through

Jesus catch me I can't stand
I am drifting from Your hand.
Reach and lift me and dry my tears
Then safe-keep me through the years.

Before my heart heard You
Your plans for me were laid
And with Your precious blood
My total debt was paid.

Jesus catch me I can't stand
I am drifting from Your hand.
Reach and lift me and dry my tears
Then safe-keep me through the years.

I Will Lift You Up

I Will Lift You Up

Though my strength may falter
Though my spirit may wane
Kneeling at this alter
I lift you up again.

Chorus
And I will lift you up
With my fervent pleas
I will lift you up
Down here on my knees
Down here on my knees

I am lacking wisdom
I cannot advise
Only love you purely
Pray to God all-wise

But I will lift you up
With my fervent pleas
I will lift you up
Down here on my knees
Down here on my knees

I can't see the future
Or His plans for you
Whether life of sorrow
Or a love that's true

But I will lift you up
With my earnest pleas
I will lift you up
Down here on my knees
Down here on my knees

I know He's the bridegroom
And He loves you the best
In His arms He will shield you
He will give you rest

And I will lift you up
With my earnest pleas
I will lift you up
Down here on my knees
Down here on my knees.

Tell Them You Love Them

Tell Them You Love Them

What would you do?
What would you say?
What if you knew
They'd die today?

Would you be shy?
Hope for the best?
Think that your life
Would tell the rest?

Chorus
Just tell them you love them
Tell them they need Him
Tell them to yield
And they'll be free.
For judgement is coming
And time is running
They'll live or die
Eternally.

We cannot live
Not say a word
So much to give
That they've not heard.

Don't turn around
Don't look away
With what we've found
They'd live today

Just tell them you love them
Tell them they need Him
Tell them to yield
And they'll be free.
For judgement is coming
And time is running
They'll live or die
Eternally.

Battle lines drawn
Dark against light
We have the dawn
They have the night

Don't waste His blood
Don't hide your light
Let your love flood
Their hearts tonight.

Just tell them you love them
Tell them they need Him
Tell them to yield
And they'll be free.
For judgement is coming
And time is running
They'll live or die
Eternally.

He Brought Them All Down

He Brought Them All Down

I was wandering in the dark
I was burdened by my fears
All my striving missed the mark
Only pain and sorrow near

Chorus
Then He brought them all down
Brought them crashing to the ground
Like the walls of Jericho
He caused all my fears to go
When I just can't go on
When I'm weak He is strong
And to Him is the crown
For He brought them all down

All my faults before me stood
Like a mountain looming high
And I felt I was no good
And my sins reached to the sky

Then He brought them all down
Brought them crashing to the ground
Like the walls of Jericho
He caused all my sins to go
When I just can't go on
When I'm weak He is strong
And to Him is the crown
For He brought them all down

In the darkness I could see
Satan's barriers in my way
Then a hand reached out to me
And He bid me to obey.

Then He brought them all down
Brought them crashing to the ground
Like the walls of Jericho
He caused all my foes to go
When I just can't go on
When I'm weak He is strong
And to Him is the crown
For He brought them all down

Jesus Come Today

Jesus Come Today

Today the hours seem long
And full of lonely time
My spirit has no song
I'm looking for a sign

The silence makes me seek
I know my Lord is good
My spirit is so weak.
Replenish it He could.

Chorus
Jesus come today
Jesus hear me pray
Lord, delay no more
Lord, my heart is sore

I have no other friend
Who loves me in my pain
My grief He will attend
And with Him I will reign

And though the way seems dim
I'm almost overcome
I'll put my trust in Him
And know the battle's won

Jesus come today
Jesus hear me pray
Lord, delay no more
Lord, my heart is sore

Like a Watchman Waits On the Dawn

Like the Watchman Waits On the Dawn

I am waiting in the silence
I am looking for You near.
I know You are always near me
And Your love allays my fear

I feel weak and I feel tired
I feel small and all alone.
But I wait here for Your presence
And for You to call me home.

CHORUS
I am waiting
Like a watchman waits on the dawn
I am waiting
Like a watchman waits on the dawn
When the sun comes up
Drives away all fear
Like Your perfect love
Holding me so near
So I'm waiting.

Satan's lies are all around me
Saying I am all alone
In the darkness I am fearful
And my faith begins to roam

Then Your Spirit whispers softly
Saying that Your dawn will come
All the lies will seem as nothing
Midst the brilliance of the Son.

I am waiting
Like a watchman waits on the dawn
I am waiting
Like a watchman waits on the dawn
When the sun comes up
Drives away all fear
Like Your perfect love
Holding me so near
So I'm waiting.

In the stillness of Your presence
Wrapped within Your grace so free
All the worries of the midnight
Seem to fade in front of me.

Now the glow of coming sunrise
Makes my heart alive again
Soon I will see so much clearer
And eternity begin.

I am waiting
Like a watchman waits on the dawn
I am waiting
Like a watchman waits on the dawn
When the sum comes up
Drives away all fear
Like Your perfect love
Holding me so near
So I'm waiting.

Baby Girl

Baby Girl

Baby Girl
As you're opening your eyes
Baby Girl
With that look of pure surprise
Did you know your momma would look this way?
Did you know how bright would be the day?
Do you know how much I just love to say
Baby Girl?

Baby Girl
That's your daddy standing there
Baby Girl
With his lips upon your hair.
Do you know his hand that you hold so tight?
Do you know he'll love with all his might?
Though the tears now cloud your face from his sight
Baby Girl

Chorus
For we were one and now we are two
And I have loved just the hope of you.
Now my sweetest song is to hear you coo
And forever I will love you
My Baby Girl.

Baby Girl
With the future all in view
Baby Girl
Now when everything is new
Do you know your life can be anything?
You could heal the sick
You could dance and sing
And to those around you sweet love you'll bring
Baby Girl.

For we were one and now we are two
And I have loved just the hope of you.
Now my sweetest song is to hear you coo
And forever I will love you
My Baby Girl.

Flood Me

Flood Me

Lord, I stood today my small cup held tight
And I thought my faith in Your love was right.
So I waited there but my faith was small
For I doubted that You would bless at all.

CHORUS
Then You opened the sky
And Your love flooded me
Then Your voice deep inside
Whispered "Why can't you see
That your doubts and your pride
Limit blessings from me?

I confess to You that I've walled Your grace
That my fear and shame have both veiled You face.
Yet You turn to me and You offer more
Of Your matchless power and Your love so sure.

Then You opened the sky
And Your love flooded me
Then Your voice deep inside
Whispered "Why can't you see
That your doubts and your pride
Limit blessings from me?

So just take this see of my faith inside
And give victory over shame and pride.
Let me open full, let Your blessings flow
Through my life and words so the world may know.

Then You opened the sky
And Your love flooded me
Then Your voice deep inside
Whispered "Why can't you see
That your doubts and your pride
Limit blessings from me?

When I Was Blind

When I Was Blind

When I was blind
All was darkness- all was pain
When I was blind
Saw no sunshine, felt the rain.
Then Your sweet voice
Tore the scales from off my eyes
And I gazed on
All the wonder of Your skies

CHORUS
Now I see
And my soul has been unbound
Now I leap
And with joy my heart is found
Now I live
And I tell the world around
I once was blind

When I was Lame
Had no good and had no worth
When I was lame
Cursed the hour when I was birthed
Then Your strong hand
Reached to me and helped me stand
And I leaped round
And I praised the God of dance.

Now I see
And my soul has been unbound
Now I leap
And with joy my heart is found
Now I live
And I tell the world around
I once was blind

When I was dead
Satan panted for my soul
When I was dead
Lived my life deep in a hole
Then Your clear voice
Said to me "rise up- come forth"
And my dead soul
Roused itself to die no more.

Now I see
And my soul has been unbound
Now I leap
And with joy my heart is found
Now I live
And I tell the world around
I once was blind

God Will Finish Me

God Will Finish Me

I
am sure the God who began the good work within you will
keep right on helping you grow in His grace until His task within you is finally finished on that day when Jesus Christ returns.

Philippians 1:6

Each time I fall it seems so far
From where I'd like to be.
My soul's within this earthen jar
And some day will be free

You wait and work to make me whole
The man you plan for me.
The work seems ceaseless on my soul
The end I cannot see
.

And while that work is grinding down
My flaws to ready me.
I hurt my friends: with sin I'm bound
Until you set me free.

But you see both my now and then
The end is sure-in view.
A finished vessel to attend
And praise and worship you .

I'll wait upon your loving grace
And know you have the power
I'll seek to look upon your face
And rest in you each hour

This is My Prayer

This is My Prayer

No worries, no regrets
Each moment to do my best
Peace, joy and gentleness
This is my prayer

Chorus
Tomorrow may not come
And yesterday's gone and done.
Each moment lived for your Son
This is my prayer

Give freely to those in need
Bind up all the wounds that bleed
With faith of a mustard seed
This is my prayer

Tomorrow may not come
And yesterday's gone and done.
Each moment lived for your Son
This is my prayer

This Alter

This Alter

Chorus:
Come to this alter
Loosen your pain
Come to this alter
Let His grace reign.
Though you are scarlet
He'll wash you white.
Come to this alter
Be His tonight.

There is no burden
He cannot ease
Here at this alter
Down on your knees.
Though you are broken
He'll mend the parts.
Here at this alter
Give him your heart.

Chorus

Satan will tell you
No power can save
Your weary spirit
From the dark grave.
Here at this alter
His lies are shown
As Christ the Savior
Claims you His own.

Chorus

He'd Do It Again For Me

He'd Do It Again For Me

When the preaching was through
And I sat in my pew
With the Spirit so thick in that place
He was calling my name
And I sat there in shame
With the tears streaming down on my face.

Then I heard deep within
"I'll forgive all your sin
Then your fear and your shame will be through
So just answer My call
For I once gave My all
And I'd do it again for you."

CHORUS
He'd do it again for me (Lord, Lord)
He would come here, He would suffer, He would bleed.
He would hang from the cross.
He would not count the cost
For He'd do it again for me.

But my burden was strong
And my life was so wrong
That I could not step out of my place.
At the alter I knew
All my worries would be through
For He offered to me there His grace.

CHORUS

So I walked down the aisle
And my friends- they just smiled
As I gratefully fell to my knees.
Tears of joy on my face
As I filled with His grace
And He'd do it again for me.

CHORUS

Praise in the Chaos

Praise in the Chaos

In the storm's center
In the den with the lions
In the boat in the storm
In the midst of the Red Sea
Your Power sustains
Just when my strength flags
As I prepare to collapse
When all seems lost
Then I hear the rush of wings
And I rise to overcome
Praise to You in the chaos
For You were always ready
To supply my needs.

What Will You Do With Jesus?

What Will You Do With Jesus?

Within today
You hear Him say
"Your life can be made new.
Confess your sin.
I'll dwell within.
I'll be a friend to you."

CHORUS
WHat will you do with Jesus?
He's knocking at your door.
He gave to you His lifeblood.
How could you want for more?

You hear His call
To yield your all
Your life to give to Him.
Don't wait too long.
His love is strong.
His grace will cleanse your sin.

CHORUS

Don't walk away.
Don't waste today-
Your chance to start anew.
He knows your fear.
He's waiting here.
His love for you is true.

CHORUS

Lose Myself

Lose Myself

Lord, today as I am searching
For some peace within my core
Let me understand Your working
And let go and wait for more.

CHORUS
I am worthy for He says so
I'm at peace His death has bought
I have hope because He promised
I will live because He fought (Repeat line)

Let my grip upon my actions
Loose and know that You work there
Know the purest form of worship
Is to let my soul be bare.

CHORUS

It's in dying that I live full
It's in yielding I o'ercome
It's in serving I Your love show
And in losing self I've won.

CHORUS

I Can Hold You

I Can Hold You

Look up in the night sky
From horizon to horizon
Diamond shards faint and far
Distances beyond your mind
Vast, huge and numberless
To you.

I know their names.
I breathed them out.
I thought and they existed.
I hold it all like a toy.
I am beyond understanding
To you

Look down into yourself
To the four notes
The song of your DNA
Combinations without number
Yet I wrote one
For you.

I AM beyond your mind.
I hold all by My Word.
I watch all eternally.
I know all your need.
I sent My Son
For you

I came and was human.
I felt my frail body.
I entered into time.
I endured willingly.
I desired to walk
With you.

I was beaten and bruised.
I suffered the shame.
I stayed the lonely course.
I died a painful death
To be eternally
With you.

Come and Be Free

Come and Be Free

Jesus is waiting here
Arms open wide.
He sees your brokenness
Pain deep inside
He knows the secret sin
All of your shame
He asks you trust in Him
Wash clean the stain.

Now is the moment
Don't turn aside
Christ stands before you
Let Him inside
Don't walk away today
Now that you see
You hear the Spirit say
"Come and be free".

CHORUS
Your heart can hear His call
Don't turn away
He wants to have your all
Trust Him today.

Lord Use Me

Lord Use Me

Oh Lord, I want to be of use to You
It's a need I feel each day.
Take the parts of me and make them new
Let them serve you, Lord I pray.

CHORUS
Use my feet
To seek the lost
And use my hands
To bind their wounds
Use my life
Whate'er the cost
Lord use me
I'm Yours

A broken reed is strong when in Your hands
A timid tongue can part the sea.
A wayward foot up on the waves can stand.
Lord, make it so with me.

Use my feet
To seek the lost
And use my hands
To bind their wounds
Use my life
Whate're the cost
Lord use me
I'm Yours

Three Natures

Three Natures

Lord my greatest test
Is to sometimes think
When my heart won't rest
And my feelings sink
For it's Satan's plan
Laid to ensnare me
Though he knows You can
Set my spirit free.
For it's not my heart
Or my humanness
That should play a part
In his sinfulness
For You give to me
Feelings, body, mind
And You help me see
That all three can find
Your transcendent plan
In my deep distress
And the faithful man
In my brokenness
Let me feel Your grace
Let me think of You
Let me run the race
Till Your plan is through.

Tuning My Soul

Tuning My Soul

When the strings of my mind
Put their focus on You
It is then that I find
That your path is in view.
But the stress of the day
Drowns the pure notes of peace
Then my thoughts freely stray
With Your harmony ceased.

When he captures my thoughts
Satan whisks me away
On the notes of a song
That speaks nothing of day.
But Your Spirit so near
Shows how joyless the tune
And its dissonance clear
As He steers me from ruin.

Then He plays me His notes
And my mind tunes again
To the music of hope
And the song of a friend.
Then I feel in my core
The vibration of grace
And I ask You once more
To reveal me Your face.

Lost Things

Lost Things

Each day I find
A new thing lost
Shared friends, old books
Comfortable furniture
Routes to work
Daily routines that are no longer
Daily
And I grieve again
And sigh again
And then I breath deeply
And look for a new lost thing.

You Reign Over All

You Reign Over All

In the eyes of a child
In the bird on the wing
In the lion free and wild
In the songs that I sing

Lord, You reign over all
With both justice and power
And yet each time I call
With your mercy You shower

In the sunrise so bright
In the storm, in the rain
In the dark of the night
In the depths of my pain

Lord, You reign over all
With both justice and power
And yet each time I call
With your mercy You shower

In my once-broken heart
In Your star's silver beam
In each new prayer I start
In my soul now washed clean

Lord, You reign over all
With both justice and power
And yet each time I call
With your mercy You shower

Renew My Strength

Renew My Strength

I look down at the waves under my feet.
My throat tightens.
I cannot do this- I will fail.
You stand calmly waiting.
My heart pounds.
The wind is so strong and the surge rises.
I know I will sink- this is impossible.
You call to me and smile.
But the boat is out of reach and the deep groans at me.
My legs weaken.
And I sink and cry out.

Your hand closes on mine and You say "Look at Me.
You will not fail- I know you.
Look at Me- you know Me.
We will not sink, it is possible.
Who is there to curse you?
You are worthy, you will do this.
Look at Me and see My forgiveness."
My legs strengthen and I rise.
My strength returns and I walk with You.
My heart calms and the waves are small
And the shore is near.

Last Leaf

Last Leaf

Brown and defiant
Wrinkle, twisting, flapping
Tenaciously holding on
As cold blasts from Alberta
Rush past downhill.

You could have given up early
Gone down in a blaze
Been eaten or raked
Tumbled into the neighbor's yard
To join others

You could have left with the rest
With the first autumn storm
That whipped branches and lashed rain
Across the woods.
But you held firm e'en in death
Like a lover sitting by a grave.

Pit of My Making

Pit of My Making
I look up from the pit of my making
The sin trap with its sides so high
I must face my own willing jump
Two-footed into the clinging mud.

Free will allowed my defiant self
To look back like a toddler
Who smiles before leaping
Meeting eyes knowing sin choice will follow.

Your Spirit whispered another way
THen shouted when I crouched
Your Spirit indwelling through sacrifice
Through blood, through pain.

When a slave, before the grace
That birthed my faith was given
I was merely following my master
Deeper into the mud of another pit.

But You lifted me up to a firm rock
From which I could see freedom
The rock from which I now
Knowingly jumped as adopted son.

M freedom now to choose between
The slave’s life and the son’s free choice
Makes my willing jump into blackness
All the more corrupt, all the more hurtful

I look up from the pit of my making
A son, no longer slave, and the difference
Comes clear when I see Your hand
Reaching again to lift me to the rock.

Miracle Day

Miracle Day

Today to you might seem to be
Like one of hundreds passing.
No new or novel view to see
Just same on same things massing.
Each room the same, each task before
Your mind like each that follows.
Like waves that beat some distant shore
Or endless flock of swallows.
'Tis why precisely you can't know
This day that my mind praises
Which is to me more like the snow
Whose endless crystals grace us.
Each flake unlike the one before
The next is not it's equal
This day is just a treasure store
It will not have a sequel
For in this day unlike the rest
Your grace you gave to heal me
And through your act of mercy blessed
Not cursed the spirit in me.

Justice and Mercy

Justice and Mercy

Justice I understand.
Firm, righteous, stark
Black or white, certain
Punishment deserved, delivered
Morally superior, clear conscience
No quarrel, no whimpering
Laws enforced, upheld

Mercy I cannot fathom
Yielded punishment, healing words
Forgiven trespass, willingly forgotten
Blow not struck, cuffs unlocked
Jugular left untouched.
Skin unbroken by blows
Love overcoming, divine nature upheld

Christ in You

Christ in You

Christ's hand reached to me
As you touched my pain
And my heart could see
That His grace like rain
Could be poured upon
One so lost and lone
Through the touch of one
Whom He calls His own.

Through your love and care
Through your willing hearts
He has healed the tear
Cause the dark to part
When you willing laid
On the alter all
And you heard Him say
"Do not let him fall."

You have eased my hurt
As you called me friend
You did servant work
And you helped me mend.
For it's Christ in you
That I see each hour
Faithful, just and true
Showing me His power.

For He's blessed us all
With His work to do
If we hear the call
To His children true
'Til he calls us home
And says "rest, well done"
And then at the throne
We will praise the Son.

Second Page Same Test

Second Page Same Test

Courage and compassion twined
As the door reopened with the second test
He returned to find tears on a face
That had been laughing moments before
And from those quivering lips
Came words of honest courage
So stark and true that I gasped

"I have been thinking of you
Ever since you left..."

The divine compassion cracked open
His walled heart and words
Poured from him recounting
Pain and loneliness from a dam
Deep inside his wounded soul

And in that moment
Healing was at work.

True Selves

True Selves

When we stop sharing
The self that we wish
That face we are wearing
The traits that we miss
The lies and deceptions
We show to the crowd
To foster perceptions
Like fashions too loud.

When we stand naked
For lover to see
Ourself to be taken
Unvarnished and free
When we so boldly
Show true self to one
Who'll love us only
And who will not run

Then we can let go
Love true and love free
Real self to them show
And their self to see.
Then we can fully
Throw open our hearts
Showing our true self
So real life can start.

In Your House

In Your House

Alone in the sanctuary
I fall to my face on the altar
Tears choke my prayers
Shame and regret and loss
Pour out of me into His grace
Where they are flung a universe away
To be known no more.
I rise cleansed and filling
Your Spirit seeps deep inside
With each verse I sing
Hallelujah! What a Savior

Your Word

Your Word

In Your Word I find warmth
Like the sun on my bare skin
Pleasant and pure
Speeding my molecules
To vibrate at Your pitch.
Power, felt not seen
Your Word penetrates
My soul and I vibrate
To Your Call
I feel the strength from a source
Real yet invisible
I feel warm and strong
And I praise You with thanks
For the Light of the world.

Geese at Dawn

Geese at Dawn

Soft in the mornings I can hear them
Their voices clear above the clouds
And then my soul leaps to their rhythm
Although my feet are on the ground.

Chorus
This world we see is not the end
A better place has been prepared
Where every heartache He will mend
Where in His love we all will share.

I see them flying free and easy
Their restless joy of moving on
Their instinct making them uneasy
And telling them of home beyond.

Chorus

I know that deep inside me somewhere
He's placed this restless ache for home
I know He'll come and then I will share
The joy of being all His own.

Growing Old

Growing Old

I will face the morning's cold
The grey light of winter dawn
Stand unafraid in the teeth
Of the north wind's bluster

I will resist the force of the chill
That wrinkles the skin on my bones
And withers my muscles within
As the icy howl rages.

I will stand on weakened feet
That once walked over foes
And flew down hillsides
Toward the embrace of love

I will stand and overcome
As my soul, ageless, living
Holds my aging body upright amidst
The onslaught of death's decay.

My Sin

My Sin

Again I face my sin
Black and sticky
Like tar in my soul
Tainting all it touches
Greed is there and slander
Pride and envy
Coveting and Gossip
The old sins
The deep sins
Held close in my heart
Like old security blankets
Unwashed and torn
One act of my will
And He would fling them
To the end of the universe
Where they can no longer
Taint my soul
Now bleached white by blood.

Cry From the Pit

Cry From The Pit

From the pit in the mire
I will lift up my cry
From the furnace of fire
To my Lord reigning high
I will plead for my heart
To be rescued from sin
For a new life to start
For His Spirit within.

From the dark of despair
I will beg for His power
That will lift me from there
And my blackness will scour
'Til my soul is washed clean
By the blood from the cross
And I praise the high king
Who has paid this great cost.

Lying Here is Our Savior

Lying Here is Our Savior

Soft moonlight, I hear no crying
In the place where He is lying
The King of Kings
And Lord of Lords is He
Shepherds from surrounding hillsides
Leave their flocks to go inside
This stable bare
To see if it is He

Chorus
Lying here is our Saviour
Gift from God to mankind

Night of nights the angels singing
Through the skies their praises ringing
To the Babe
Who lays amongst the straw
God's great glory manifested
In a human form He rested
Perfect lamb
He's come to set us free.

Chorus

Sleeping in a wooden manger
To the earth He is no stranger
The sun and moon
He made them all you see
Soon again the wood will find Him
Death's dark power will try to bind him
But He's our God
He'll win the victory

Chorus

Hanging from a cross, Jehovah
Perfect love to man bestowing
If we believe we'll live eternally
If we believe we'll live eternally.

First Night

First Night

In the quiet of the evening
With the starry host around
As the flocks are peaceful sleeping
We are resting near the town

Then the light breaks through
And we fall afraid
As a voice so true
Tells us of a babe
Who has come this night
Who will rule the earth
So we think we might
Go and see this birth

CHORUS
(And the angels sing)
Hosannah God with us
Fill the heavens
With His love
(And the angels sing)
Hosannah God with us
From the earth to heaven above.

So we wandered to the stable
In the town of Bethlehem
And we view the child who's able
To cleanse all the sins of man

Then the love breaks though
And we fall in praise
All the scriptures true
Wrapped up in this babe
Sent as man to die
Like a spotless lamb
He's the Lord on high
He's the Great IAM

CHORUS
(And the angels sing)
Hosannah God with us
Fill the heavens
With His love
(And the angels sing)
Hosannah God with us
From the earth to heaven above.

See the Jouney Through

See the Journey Through

On my knees as day is coming
Salty tears leave marks that shine
And I feel that I am running
To a goal I cannot find.
To the left I see them calling
All my sins and all my fears
To the right the Tempter's mauling
Those grown sinful through the years.
Though I beg for Your uplifting
And the wisdom You can bring
Under me the sands are shifting
And my tears begin to sting.
How long, Lord will life afflict me
With its pain and lonely time?
And just when will I the end see
And Your rest when will I find?
I know whom I have believed
And I trust my soul to Him
But each day I long to see it
That blessed gate to pass within.
Help me Lord to run the course through
Though my feet are cut and bruised
Give me eyes to see the long view
How the pain is by You used.
For the end is not the journey
And the path is not the prize
Keep me faithful without worry
'Til I see You with my eyes.

Soul Cycle

Soul Cycle

In the middle of the winter
All around is cold and gray
And the air feels sharp and bitter
As the wind blows through the day.
Springtime's green is just a glimmer
Days are dark and colors drear
And my joy is driven inward
Death is all around and near.

Somewhere deep within my being
There's and echo of the spring.
Warming sun and pastures' greening
Memories of the birds that sing.
Hope it is that's not forgotten
Life too strong to be ignored
Easter Day of Son begotten
Promise of a risen Lord

For my soul must know the cycle
Life then death then breath again
Pain is just before revival
Paths of sorrow soon will end
Tests and trial are the setting
My response will lead to gain
If I see that pain is letting
Patience come with joy like rain.

God of the Ages Speak to My Heart

God of the Ages Speak to My Heart

God of the ages
Speak to my heart
Let your love flow
To my soul

Show through Your pages
Your unchanging truth
Take all my pieces
Make me whole.

So I may serve You
Reflect your light
Reach to my brothers
Lost in the night.

Oh, Great Jehovah
Dwell with us here
Push back the sadness
Wipe all our tears

Join us in battle
Fill us with song
Lift up the weary
Right every wrong.

And we will follow
Daughters and sons
Into the battle
'Till victory's won.

God of the ages
Speak to my heart
Let your love flow
To my soul

Sonrise

Sonrise

Sunrise, early dawn
Three women with their sandals on
Go walking
To see their Lord
Softly weeping, mourning
Walking though the misty morning
Wondering why
Their Lord had died.

And as they walked along
They sang a sad, sad song
About a King without a crown.
About a man who'd taught them
How to live their lives
Then He'd taught them how to die.

Graveyard, dewy grass
Wondering if the guards will let them
Walk on past
To see their Lord
Fog is clearing now
Sunlight beats upon their brows
Rock under foot
Along the way

They could not know the love
He'd shown to them that day
As He hung 'mid earth and sky
They could not comprehend
The perfect thing He'd done
As He bled there and He died

Broken tombstones lay
In silent disarray
Just as their dreams
Seemed shattered by death
Walking slowly on
Through the sunlit dawn
Seeing His face
In memories dear

And then they see the tomb
And lo! The stone is gone
And there's no body left inside
And weeping Mary turns
To see Him standing there
Living still
Loving still

Sunrise, early dawn
Still my Lord lives on
He rose on that day
For you and I
For through the cross, you see
Eternal life He gives
To you and to me
New journey begun

The joy they felt inside
That glorious Easter morn
Lives on eternally
But if you're walking down
That rocky path today
Turn around
And believe

Endless Sonrise now.

Would I Have Run?

Would I Have Run?

When the finger turned to me
As the fire flickered bright
And the faces turned to see
If the servant girl was right
When they nodded their assent
To the corner where I hid
And they claimed I lived as friend
Would I say I never did?

Would I have run away
Would I have left His side
If I had known that day
It was for me He died?
Could I find in my core
The strength to stand upright
As Jesus mutely bore
My scourges all that night?

When another in the dark
As the soldiers mocked and spat
Said my clothing looked the part
Of His friends' with whom He sat.
When the fear within me swelled
And I knew the choice was near
Would I curse by earth and Hell
So that all the crowd could hear?

Would I have run away
Would I have left His side
If I had known that day
It was for me He died?
Could I find in my core
The strength to stand upright
As Jesus mutely bore
My scourges all that night?

When I heard the breathless joy
Just as Mary rushed inside.
Would I, reckless like a boy,
With young John right by my side
Run right through the morning's light
Just to find the empty tomb
And while taking in that sight
Would my flickering faith renew?

And when He asks of me
Three times if I still love
Would shame flood over me
Or peace rest like a dove
Would I just turn away
Remembering my sin
Or would I choose to stay
And gladly run to Him?

Changing

Changing

Between thinking and knowing
Is a place of chaos
As the two points converge
Between knowing and acting
The darkness whispers
"To move is to die"
Between acting and changing
The weight of rigid time
Pushes back so hard
Between changing and freedom
An instant of understanding
And the butterfly emerges.

Spring

Spring

The pink dogwood in the yard sighed today
When the west wind played with her blossoms.
He tickled and teased with a light flutter
That tingled to her trunk.
Brushing through branches that reached out
Yearning for a firmer embrace.
Then he rocked her
Back and forth in a noteless slow dance
Until she blushed and sighed.
Then her petals burst free and fell
Carpeting the ground at her feet
With the fragrance of spring.

For a Tree on the Roadside

For a Tree on the Roadside

The daily treadmill of people
Bent by burdens self-made
Flows past like a river of refugees
Without a glance of notice
Or gardener's loving caress.

This place, this same place
No Further, no higher no grander
Chosen with random care years before
God knows why
Here, while all the world passes

I am here still
Alive unmoved, deeper not higher
Ignored uninteresting, plain and passive
Here rooted and breathing
Common and unique, complex and unexciting

Other life blurs past
I stay steadfast and deeper
Breathing and giving breath
Holding tight to this place
Where God has left me.

Facescape

Facescape

There are rivers and canyons crossing my surface
Cut by the force of pain and joy
Traced by tears of loss and grief
Dammed up years boiling inside, tightly held

They show furrows where an unformed self
Faced winds of change when youth was gone
Deep crevices from smiles held too close
The box canyons where love was trapped and died

I see the lines where rivulets of fresh salt
Rolled down to cross scars
Formed when shards of broken dreams
Ripped through my placid life.

Each seems a focus of repressed emotion
Or life wind that eroded who I was before
But from Your vantage high above the whole
The geography shows me for who I have become.

Baptism

Baptism

The dove settled down through the clouds
Down where the water had stirred
Hovering over the water
Like in the beginning
When all was new in the Father's mind
When the Son had spoken it into existence
Sunlight danced and clouds parted
As He rose from the water at John's side
The Father voiced His loving pride
And the dove settled onto Him
As He always intended.

Nature's Plans

Nature's Plans

Driving past greening trees and flowers
Wildly intruding where shafts of light
Crack through the canopy I can see
Some chaotic pattern to the forest
A plan within the confusion of life

A bit farther on into pasture lands
Prematurely thinning and brown
Trampled and beaten by hooves
Of animals seeking out the little green
Leaving a network of patterned paths

Past fenced fields where the wild waits
Just outside the square patterns of man
Patiently growing and planning to gain
A foothold in the sterile order
Before thrusting its real life through

Much of man's time is spent
Forcing his sense of order
Into what seems the chaotic future
Failing utterly to control time
Or see wisdom in God's intricate plan .

Washed Clean

Washed Clean

There is nothing in this water.
That will wash away your stain.
All the words and ceremony
All your tears would be in vain.
Never washed as white as cotton
To be clean forever more
Never conscience full forgiven
Nor your sin’s forgiveness sure.

It is all within His lifeblood
That rushed down from Calvary
‘Mid the stripes and pain and rough wood
As He showed His love so free.
And those rivulettes so brutal
Have such power that angels stared
As the One High God of Glory
Chose to die for sinners there.

It is in this blood so precious
That you’ll find salvation’s key
And its sacrificial payment
Will secure eternity.
Though it flows a crimson river
It can wash you white as fleece
And by perfect substitution
It will bring you perfect peace.

Abba

Abba!

When I awake there are two choices to me
The first is primal and insistent
Driving my heart to pound and my insides to churn
As my mind sticks in a loop containing the fears of the day
Things in the past that terrify and whispers of a future
That promises more of the same
“Give in” this choice demands
You have no weapons to defeat my effects
You will waste away as I eat you
From you innermost to what all can see
And you will lose yourself in the process.

But a second choice is there as well.
Steady and quietly confident
Not behind me threatening but beside steadying
Reminding me that the fear within is a reminder
That I am small and helpless in the face
Of the powers of the universe
That within my human shell there is no
Power to quell a storm or heal my wounds
And firmer still, a voice in my ear saying
“I am Your Father and you My son
I long for you to call to Me
Acknowledging My strength and overwhelming
Love for you in the very midst of your fear.”

Always True

Always True

When you awake from sleep today
Reflect upon these words I say.
There are some things within this life
That rise above the pain and strife
To reach the point of “always true.”
And some of these I’ll tell to you...

Our God is great. His ways are just
And in His love your soul can trust.
The sun He made to warm the day
Unaltered in its westering way.
The joy we see within a child.
The peace we feel in forests wild.

Mid all these things so good and true
Is my unfailing faith in you.
There is no thing you can’t achieve.
And one more thing you can believe
And look to as the northern star
I prize the person that you are.

He's in the Churchyard

He’s in the Churchyard

She wakes the early monrning
Just to watch the sun come in
Drinks her coffee in the kitchen
Asks the cat just where he’s been
Puts her breakfast on the table
Says a prayer to bless the day.
Tries to think of all the good things
Not how long he’s been away.

Chorus
Keeps the rooms just like he left them
Reads the letters that he sent
Sits beside the front porch window
Wonders where the time all went
And it isn’t till the evening
When she lies in bed alone
She will know he’s in the churchyard
Till her Lord should call her home.

On the rocker while she’s reading
And his face comes to her mind
She will close her eyes and cherish
All the memories that bind
While she works around the garden
She will tell him of her day
Then a tear will join the memory
Of the night he went away.

Love on a Train

Love on the Train

A hiss of air and the door closed
She was last on the train
Closed tighter than its steel doors
Standing armored against the crowd
Severe coat and gloves
Collar tightly buttoned
Eyes distant and dull
She was not there

Then something changed
She shifted and searched
Lifted a phone to a blank face
Read the name or number
Steel doors tight to the world

And suddenly she was in love.
Like the dawn at the north rim
Everything changed in an instant.
Her face, her smile illuminated
All space around her
Phone to ear she chatted
With this distant lover
Who had pried open her doors.

People around smiled and nodded
Some talked to each other as her glow
Enveloped the car in love transparent
Words were not heard as passion
Was driven into every heart
Like a gift of joy freely flowing

The phone closed while she smiled
The glow like a madonna lingering
The phone settled in her pocket for a moment
But she drew it out caressing and embracing
His number on the screen savoring
Smiling and sighing as we all did
Then the doors slammed suddenly
And she was not there.

A Day that Looks Like Heaven

A Day That Looks Like Heaven

On his knees with childlike openness
Asking of His maker dear
A request direct and guileless
Of a thing to bring all cheer.

Chorus
No more tears and no more madness
All our sins have been forgiv’n
Time eternal without sadness
On a day that looks like heav’n

As his prayer was joined by all of us
Such a vision did arise
Of our world no longer with a curse
Just a day that looks like heav’n

No more tears and no more madness
All our sins have been forgiv’n
Time eternal without sadness
On a day that looks like heav’n

The Weaver

Weaver

The weaver sits down
Puts His hands on the loom
Where the cloth is laid
And the colors will bloom
The cloth He now weaves
Seems a patchwork affair
As we look o'er His shoulder
We see no beauty there

CHORUS
Weaver, take the thread of my life
Make a beautiful cloth
From the parts of my soul
With Your tender fingers working the loom
I know those parts will soon become whole

As His fingers work
So skillfully on
He puts color and shape
In the tapestry formed.
Putting beauty there
In place of the grey that once was
We can feel His love
In each movement He does.

CHORUS

Now we see Him take the cloth
That's been beautifully done
As He lovingly looks
O'er its flawless detail
And we notice
As He takes it with Him-a loved one
That His wrists
Bear the mark of the nail

Chorus

There are many skeins of thread
That have yet to be touched
By those magical hands
They have yet to be free
I will search the world through
And I'll tell of His skill
For the cloth
That was woven was me.

Like Father Like Son

Like Father Like Son

In an instant when the miracle of grace
Took sin and flung it into non-being
In that instant I was no longer
Merely a creature with God's image
No longer a puzzle missing pieces
And in the flash of power that followed
My confession and my yielding
To a sacrifice not of my own doing
I became a son

When the Holy Spirit entered with the missing piece
I became a new being, a new creature with new DNA
The heritage of a king resides now fully in me
Not yet seen by all until I become more transparent.
Yet daily my Father's mannerisms
His way of talking and thinking
His values, His heritage
Is seen by the world in me
Like Father like son

Walk on the Water

Walk On The Water

The waves are all around me
It seems too far to shore
There's just no one to hear me
Above the tempest's roar
I don't know if I'll last the night
If I'll be overcome

Walk on the water
Walk on the water

The fear is raging boldly
With eyes this life I see
The limits and excuses
With which they'll bury me
Is there a chance to see anew
With eyes that know the truth

Walk on the water
Walk on the water

Now someone's calling out my name
With words so full of hope
I take a step out in the rain
And leave this worthless boat
And then I see His face appear
He's holding out His hand

Walk on the water
Walk on the water

What You Gonna Do?

What You Gonna Do on that Old Judgement Day?

What you gonna do on that old judgement day?
Who you gonna turn to?
Who you try to pay?
Will you ask the rocks to fall down
Covering your shame
Or will you beg the judge for mercy
And call on Jesus' name?

Who you gonna cling to?
What you gonna say?
What you gonna do on that old judgement day?

What you gonna do on that old judgement day
When the sky will split wide open
When old Gabriel starts to play?
Will you gather with the sheep
Who are standing on His right?
Will you tremble with the others
Who'll be cast far from His sight?

Who you gonna cling to?
What you gonna say?
What you gonna do on that old judgement day?

What you gonna do on that old judgement day
When the King will come in glory
To carry bride away?
Will you hope that all your money
Will get you through the gate?
Will you see you sin uncovered
And understand to late?

Who you gonna cling to?
What you gonna say?
What you gonna do on that old judgement day?

Once I Danced

Once I Danced

Rings of time embrace me
Slowly growing year by year
They layer one another
Marking broad growth
Or thin year of want.
Line circling line unoticed
Until thick with memory
The core that once
Reveled in wind
Is now masked and fearful
When spring returns
And change may fracture
And break the illusion of strength.

Dale's Song

Angel on the Road

He's walking down the sidewalk
In the early morning air
And he seems to be conversing
With a man who isn't there.
The people that he passes
All just turn their heads away
But none of them will know
They met an angel on the way

Chorus
And he wants a day like heaven
Just like in '53
When his momma and his daddy both
Could bounce him on their knee
And he prays for all the children
He's ever come to know.
But none of them will know
They met an angel on the road.

He's picking up the trash
Along the road again today
And every one he meets-
Well, you can always hear him say
"It's really good to see you, man,
Your looking great today.
I feel just like a tiger
As I go along my way.

Chorus
And he wants a day like heaven
Just like in '53
When his momma and his daddy both
Could bounce him on their knee
And he prays for all the children
He's ever come to know.
But none of them will know
They met an angel on the road.

And one day when he's sleeping
And his Lord should come to call
To take him back to heaven
Where there'll be no pain at all
And as he passes through the gates
He'll hear the angels say
"It's really good to see you, man,
Your looking great today.

Chorus
And he wants a day like heaven
Just like in '53
When his momma and his daddy both
Could bounce him on their knee
And he prays for all the children
He's ever come to know.
But none of them will know
They met an angel on the road.

I'll Be Your Sister

I'll Be Your Sister

I'll count your fingers and your toes
And I will contemplate your nose
I'll wonder how a thing so small
Can fill the house with such a squall.

I'll watch how momma looks at you
And seems to smile at every coo
I'll watch your things crowd into mine
And I will fuss and I will whine...
I'll be your sister.

Chorus:
I'll be your sister from the start
You'll be my sister and my heart
Will always be yours while I live
And all this special love I'll give...
I'll be your sister.

I'll smile and laugh when you walk in
I'll try to imitate your grin
I'll grab your hair and taste it too
And I will always look for you.

I'll take your toys and hold them tight
I'll never let you from my sight.
I'll point and you and say your name
And you will be my favorite game....
You'll be my sister.

Chorus:
You'll be my sister from the start
I'll be your sister and my heart
Will always be yours while I live
And all this special love I'll give...
You'll be my sister......
I'll be your sister.

The Girl With Raven Hair

The Girl With Raven Hair

Where are you going, my blue-eyed boy
What are you going to see?
I'm goin' to where the rivers run
I'm goin' to meet the sea

Chorus

My love is far beyond these shores
Her voice is callin' me
I'm goin' to where the rivers run
I'm goin' to meet the sea.

What will you do my blue-eyed son
What are you going to do?
I'll find me a ship that's fair and fast
And sail a league or two.

Chorus
My love is far beyond these shores
With eyes of saphire blue
I'll find me a ship that's fair and fast
And sail a league or two.

What will you find my blue-eyed boy
What will you find o're there?
I'll find the one I love so well
The girl with raven hair

Chorus
My love is far beyond these shores
But I am sailin' there
I'll find the one I love so well
The girl with raven hair.

River Walk

River Walk

You will see him on the River Walk
Moving slowly as the people rush
All up and down,
Taking pictures.
But they never seem to catch
The view he's seeing.
"it was here that I first saw her smile
As we walked along the old canal.
It was there I stole a first kiss
Soft and sweet.
I can see the night so clear
And so complete."

Chorus
And I come here everyday
And I see her.
And we dance the night away
Or we just sit here
Holding hands under the rain
Sharing love before the pain
Would tear us down
And take her love form me.

He seems to be so far away
As a mariachi band plays
Las Mananitas
On the plaza.
And he smiles right through his tears
And sings so clearly.
"Wake up my dear, the dawn is come.
The birds all sing, the moon is down.
How lovely is the morning when I meet you.
I have two stars in my hands
The first to greet you."

Chorus
And I come here everyday
And I see her.
And we dance the night away
Or we just sit here
Holding hands under the rain
Sharing love before the pain
Would tear us down
And take her love form me.

You can see him on the River Walk
Moving slowly as the people rush
All up and down
Taking pictures.
